Tooling and equipment in the aircraft hangar are required to meet safety regulations per US and International standards.

OSHA and the NEC in the United States and ATEX and EC International standards designate hazardous areas and set up the requirements that need to be met by electrical equipment operating in these areas.

With aircraft weighing, trapped fuel and fumes can be present along with other solvents or materials typically found in hangars where weighings take place. Because of this, aircraft platform scales need to be certified and marked to meet these safety requirements.
