Seattle (SDOT) puts Portable Weigh-In-Motion to Use and Sees Immediate Results photo

Seattle, WA - The city of Seattle recently showcased the latest technology and trends in Commercial Vehicle Enforcement including Intercomp’s portable Weigh-In-Motion system.  These systems consist of two scales, roll-out ramps, and an indicator that allows them to be transported and deployed where weigh stations don’t exist.

Designed for portable LSWIM screening, Intercomp LS630 scales and indicator are also NTEP certified in static mode with the ability to write tickets onsite.  This was put to use, with SDOT stating  “in the first 3 weeks of using the new mobile equipment, officers discovered roughly 40% of the trucks weighed were overweight and they were cited.”

This accomplishes the dual goals of education and enforcement to help trucking operators ensure the safety of the drivers and their trucks, and vehicles that encounter these on the roads in Seattle and Washington State.
