HS-WIM System with Intercomp Strain Gauge Strip Sensors Gains 1A INMETRO Certification in Brazil
Category: ITS/Enforcement
October 25, 2024
The advanced high-speed weigh-in-motion (HS-WIM) solution, developed by ITS system integrator Consilux using Intercomp Strain Gauge Strip Sensors, has achieved 1A certification from Brazil’s National Metrology Institute (INMETRO). This certification validates the solution’s ability to meet the most stringent accuracy standards for direct enforcement at speeds of up to 100 km/h, utilizing a 6-sensor layout.
This HS-WIM system stands as the only solution to receive a 1A type approval for a 6-sensor layout operating at speeds of up to 100 km/h. Until now, no other sensor technology has achieved such high-level performance with a 6-sensor configuration. The only other 1A certification in this space required an 8-sensor layout and was limited to speeds of up to 90 km/h.
Intercomp’s Strain Gauge Strip Sensors are known for their exceptional accuracy and long-term stability. These sensors have demonstrated a superior ability to maintain calibration over time, offering greater durability compared to other strip sensor technologies. This makes them the ideal choice for high-speed, high-accuracy WIM applications where precision and reliability are critical.
The certification, formalized through INMETRO’s Portaria nº 467, on Sept. 5, 2024, confirms that the solution meets Brazil’s strict metrological and software requirements for direct enforcement. With Intercomp’s Strain Gauge Strip Sensors as the foundation, the HS-WIM system developed by Consilux is fully compliant with INMETRO’s standards, delivering reliable, accurate data for vehicle weighing in high-speed applications.
The Intercomp-based solution not only ensures compliance but sets a new benchmark for accuracy and performance in the industry. For more information on how this certified solution can enhance your enforcement capabilities, contact us today.
