Idaho Transportation Department Uses LTR788™

The Idaho Transportation Department started their journey with Intercomp from an LTR788™ Dual Wheel Load Scale demonstration at the 2024 Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Workshop. Six scales and six months in, Idaho Transportation Department is gearing up to purchase more, now that the LTR788™ boasts a NTEP Certification for commercial vehicle weight enforcement.
 

The Idaho Transportation Department has experienced a number of benefits from using the LTR788™ scales. First and foremost, safety has improved. The improved handling and stopping potential means both drivers and the traveling public will have more successful trips, increasing roadway safety for all. The scales have also helped them increase outreach and build trust with carriers. Carriers know the Idaho Transportation Department are not there to just enforce codes and rules, but they help and educate the industry. The LTR788™ also helps protect the infrastructure by having weight evenly distributed on the roadway.
 

The LTR788™ Dual Wheel Load Scale features a long-lasting machined aluminum frame which reduces the overall weight to just 39 lb, making these scales easier to move for rapid roadside setup while the platform height of just 0.86” (22 mm) is convenient for vehicle approach and positioning. The LTR788™ is battery-operated and features a solar panel, enabling the batteries to maintain the charge and minimizing the need for manual charging.
 

With the LTR788™ Dual Wheel Load Scales, Idaho Transportation Department vehicle inspectors identify unequal weight distribution within a dual wheel with one portable digital scale. The information provided by the LTR788™ scale enables them to set, educate, and enforce safety standards which may lead to new efficiency standards within private industries to regulate and adjust weights on each tire.
