A major Class I railroad carrier located just outside one of the largest cities in the US operates one of the busiest and most important terminals for intermodal distribution. The carrier was searching for an automated gate solution which could resolve a variety of needs for the busy terminal: optimizing terminal operations, traffic coordination, planning and placement of container loads, and accurately identifying the weight of a unit as it enters the facility. The carrier approached REMPREX and Intercomp with the idea of combining AGS freight checkpoints with Weigh-In-Motion sensors to efficiently weigh every container truck entering the yard.Designed to perform in high-throughput and extreme temperature conditions, Intercomp's Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) Strain Gauge Strip Sensors can be integrated into operating systems ranging from analog output to API, making them the ideal solution to incorporate with the REMPREX system. The sensors are installed within grooves less than 3" in the pavement, minimizing required time for installation and maintenance, and are OIML R134 certified for WIM uses at both low and high speeds.
