Minneapolis, MN – Intercomp, the world’s largest manufacturer of portable vehicle weighing and measurement products, is proud to announce the purchase of vehicle weight enforcement scales by both by the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).NCTCOG purchased one hundred LP600™ Low-Profile Scales which were delivered to 15 different city agencies within Texas in sets of four. NCTCOG issued a competitive RFP to purchase the portable Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) scales for the numerous enforcement agencies that are a part of the Council. The scales needed to be NTEP certified, durable, fit within the trunk of commercial vehicles, and comply with the Buy America Act. The successful contractor needed to provide references demonstrating field-proven reliability and the Council was looking for product training and a local provider for service and calibration.
The Texas DPS chooses Intercomp’s AX900™ Axle Scales for commercial vehicle enforcement because the scales are the lowest profile NTEP Class IIII certified axle scales available using fully electronic load cells and wireless communication. The AX900™ facilitates rapid deployment and set up allowing agencies to quickly weigh large volumes of vehicles with a wide variety of axle groups, thereby expanding vehicle overload enforcement and roadside inspection beyond traditional permanent weigh stations.
“We are pleased to have been supplying our fully electronic portable scales to the state of Texas, both at the state and local level, for over thirty years,” explained Eric Peterson, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for Intercomp. “Earlier this year, Texas set up state-run checkpoints to inspect commercial vehicles coming from Mexico in addition to those conducted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. These recent orders demonstrate how our technology and field-proven reliability support overload enforcement operations throughout the state of Texas”
A member of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance since 1998, Intercomp has a long-standing reputation as a dependable provider of accurate, rugged, and certified weighing equipment. In the 1980’s, Intercomp provided over 500 of the commercial vehicle enforcement market’s first digital wheel load scales to the Texas DPS, most of which remained in use for decades until the technology evolved into lower profile scales. Intercomp’s prominence in the industry, and product references from other enforcement organizations, led the agencies to select Intercomp’s LP600™ scales and AX900™ Axle Scales. Numerous departments report they have had no service issues while using the scales for many years.
Intercomp partnered with Nicol Scales & Measurement to provide training and local support- including repair, and calibration. Product training, which consisted of live vehicle weighing, detailed scale operation, and best practices, relied upon Intercomp and Nicol Scales’ thirty-plus years of experience serving Texas state and local law enforcement agencies.
