New Mexico Sprint Car driver, Josh Grady, began his racing journey at age 14 behind the wheel of a Dwarf Car. At age the of 16, his father bought him a 360 for a winged Sprint Car and he never looked back. Now in his thirties, he owns and races his own winged and non-winged Sprint Cars and says his Intercomp RFX® Wireless Billet Scale System and Digital Air Gauge are his two most important pieces of setup equipment for reaching peak performance with his race car. Whether he’s at the shop, or on the racetrack, Grady says these are two pieces of equipment he ends up reaching for most often.“My Intercomp scales and air gauge absolutely help me maximize my racecar’s performance due to their consistent accuracy while remaining easy to use. It’s critical for me to scale my cars before every race to know - without a doubt – where my chassis and suspension are from a setup standpoint. It gives me that extra bit of confidence when battling for the win, knowing that I am working from a solid baseline setting.”

During the week leading up to a race, Grady says he uses his Intercomp RFX® Wireless corner balancing scale system to prepare both his winged and non-winged sprint cars in his shop. Built-in Bluetooth® technology simplifies access to the weight information on his mobile device, where he can screenshot and share information with the rest of his team. He also makes sure to pack the scales in his trailer each time he heads to the track where he relies on the scale system’s accuracy of ±0.1% to make sure his chassis setup is correct before each race. Although Grady says some Sprint Car competitors do not think it’s necessary to use scales when setting up their race cars, using the scale system increases his confidence in how the car will respond in a variety of circumstances and allows him to push his car closer to its limits for faster lap times.
Tire tuning is another critical piece of the setup equation in any form of racing. Sprint Car drivers rely on the wide, sticky rear tires to transfer large amounts of horsepower into forward motion, and Grady says he counts on his Intercomp Digital Air gauge to get his tires set to the optimal pressures. With an accuracy of 0.1% and the ability to read down to 0.01 psi, an Intercomp Digital Air Gauge provides Grady ability to fine-tune his racecar’s handling.
With his Intercomp RFX® Wireless Scale System and Digital Air Gauge, Josh Grady can maximize his race car’s potential, while gaining the confidence to push his car to win more heat races and features. “In my experience, Intercomp outperforms the other brands by combining the latest setup technology in an extremely rugged, consistent, accurate, and easy-to-use package,” says Grady as he aims to outperform his competition, too.
